Here’s what I’ve loved in crochet this week…

The perfect layering option for all seasons, a stylish tote, breezy granny squares in a button up tee, a sweater with groovy vibes of the ‘60s, and…

Each doily is a work of art, a riot of flowers in a sweater, stripes in all their glory in a blanket reminiscent of a riverbed, and a shawl celebrating the Solstice.

Summer fruit fun and where are the bees? A granny stitch inspired Abuela tee and a delightful mandarin tree crochet tapestry.

A ribbed border looks fantastic, an interview with a crochet designer of the most beautiful blankets and stained-glass squares.

Tips for crocheting in the summer heat, long starting chains made easy and a clever joining method for c2c squares.

Three different variations of crochet ribbing, the double crochet lace stitch and what not to do when creating crocheted garments.

Check out the latest trends for the summer season and a decorative border inspired by the ocean.

Decorative doilies.

Grace Fearon’s doily design collection is exquisite. They’re all a work of art!

Floral diamonds.

A riot of color that’ll bring a burst of joy to your wardrobe! The flower is the center of the diamond square to create a stunning overall effect of this sweater.

Riverbed blanket.

Using five different colors and simple stitches, this creates a lovely striped blanket that’s cozy and comforting.

Solstice shawl.

A beautiful trapezium-shaped shawl made of join-as-you-go lace crochet circular motifs. The tassels on the edge look fantastic!

Watermelon fun.

Little slices of watermelon with little bites taken out. Such a cute design that works as a coaster, appliqued to other items or a fruity garland.

Bees in the beehive.

This is one of the most adorable amigurumi designs I’ve ever seen!

The little beehive house can be removed which reveals the honeycomb with tiny bees. I imagine it would provide hours of play for little ones.

You could sing the little song that I sang to my kids when they were little.

“Here is the beehive, where are the bees? Hiding away where nobody sees. Watch them come creeping out of their hive, one, two, three, four, five.”

Abuela shirt.

The granny square stitch is used to great effect with this light and breezy button up and collared tee.

Mandarin tree tapestry.

This makes a lovely wall hanging. The mandarin tree feature is gorgeous on a backdrop that is reminiscent of mountains.

This week’s insider crochet inspiration…

Rib crochet border.

This is a lovely and simple border to do, and it looks great too. Perfect for finishing off blanket projects.

An interview with an heirloom blanket designer.

I fell in love with the Persian Tiles blanket Janie Crow created. It’s on my list of dream projects to complete. In this episode of Fruity Knitting, Andrea and Janie talk about one of her stunning heirloom blanket designs.

It’s so interesting to see the behind the scenes of a crochet designer’s process.

Stained glass granny squares.

Such a pretty design for a version of a granny square that resembles stained glass windows. Watch the video for the instructions on how to create your own.

Tips for crocheting with faux fur yarn.

Faux fur yarn feels great but can be tricky to crochet with. Here are some excellent tips from The Loopy Lamb for how to work with this kind of yarn.

Tips for crocheting in the summer heat.

No need to stop crocheting in the warmer weather. Here are Kristine’s top tips for more comfortable experiences when crocheting in the heat.

Long starting chains made easy.

Hundreds of starting chains may seem overwhelming, but don’t despair! Tamara has some great ideas on how to make it simpler in her tutorial.

A joining method for c2c squares.

The way Amber joins her corner-to-corner squares look great. Follow her steps in her helpful tutorial.

Double crochet lace stitch.

A delicate and lovely lace stitch to add to your library of crochet stitches.

Crochet ribbing.

I found this video super helpful on how to do crochet ribbing.

The video tutorial by Designs by Phanessa shows you how to do three variations using slip stitch, single crochet and half double crochet stitches.

Avoiding troubles when crocheting garments.

The mistakes Michelle talks about in her video when crocheting garments… All avoidable! Learn her secrets by giving it a watch.

Crochet trends for summer.

Toni has some great ideas to spark your inspiration for summer crochet projects. I loved the crocheted dress design. It’d certainly be a labor of love!

Whipsiderry border.

This is a lovely decorative border. Follow the tutorial which includes very clear photos for all the steps. As Dedri from Look at What I Made said about this:

“I have called it Whipsiderry because the popcorns remind me of the beautiful rocks at Whipsiderry beach (in the UK), and the waviness of the border reminds me of the way the tide creeps in slowly at first, before swallowing the beach in minutes.”

Hope this issue has inspired your next crochet project!
